If you’re having an overnight guest, there can be a lot to do in order to get ready for your guest. The task may seem daunting but, if you keep the following things in mind, it isn’t quite so bad. There are basic things that you need to do in order to make sure that your overnight guest is both happy and feels welcome.
Creating space for guests in your home is an opportunity to make people feel welcome and ensure that their time spent with you is memorable.
Prepare your home for overnight guests
1) Clean The House
Cleaning the house will make anyone visiting you feel more comfortable. Get rid of the clutter and sweep and dust everything that needs it. Having guest stay for the night can be motivation to get that small project done and polish off you to-do list.
2) Plenty of Food
Make sure there is plenty of food and drink in your fridge. Find out what your guest enjoys and consider your guests’ food preferences, make sure you know if your guest is vegetarian, or allergic to certain foods. Show guests where to find snacks, drinking glasses, and utensils, and encourage them to help themselves. Also, let your guest know that they are free to grab anything at any time.
3) The Bathroom
Your bathroom should already be clean from doing the rest of the house, but you should also add a few things. New towels can make your guest feel more at home, and “Be My Guest” black embroidery hand towels can add a nice touch. Supply a few luxuries that one might not find at home: Bali soaps and beeswax candles can help a guest relax if they feel like taking a longer bath. Also unusual cream a special shampoo and a small solid perfume.
You should also make sure other toiletries are available for your guests’ use. Always remember, if your guest has allergies, provide a hypoallergenic soap and moisturizer.
And of course, extra toilet paper. Nothing is more awkward for a guest than running out of toilet paper, so I set out several rolls near the toilet.
4) Guest Bedroom
In the guest bedroom, sheets that haven’t been used for a while can get stale. It’s always a good idea to wash them before a guest uses them again. You could also buy new sheets to make the bed even more comfortable for your guest. Make sure there is adequate closet and drawer space and a variety of hangers. You should also check the details of the guest bedroom, such as light bulbs, the time on clocks and TV remote controls. If a room isn’t used often, things can stop working and not be noticed. You don’t want to inconvenience your guest.
Leave a pitcher of spring water and a glass on the bedside table in the guest room. Also for visitors during the coldest months, provide them with a hot-water bottle in case they want to drink something hot before going to sleep.
If space permitting, set up a comfortable chair and a table, with a good adjustable-and you might also include a portable CD player with a selection of music. This is a great way to prepare your home for overnight guests
5) Prepare your home for overnight guests with activities
Planning something to do with your guest can liven up their stay and make it much more memorable. Don’t over-pack your guest with events, but one or two things to make their stay at your home fun will be appreciated. Perhaps a baseball game, or a visit to an amusement park, or even something as simple as a shopping trip will make your guest’s day varied and interesting.
Your guest should feel like they are at home in your house, and keeping these few simple things in mind will make their stay much more enjoyable for them.
